Background

No one wants to have upset and difficulties in their workplace or to have to retain an Employment Lawyer, but sometimes it is necessary. More than anybody, Leslie Smith understands how difficult a breakdown between an employee and employer can be. It affects the core ability of an individual to support his or her family, to engage in meaningful work, and to plan for a secure future.

For that reason, it is of utmost importance that when there is a breakdown between you and your employer, you understand all the issues in your situation and receive accurate legal advice in order to make practical decisions about the matters at hand.

Equally, it is extremely important to understand your rights and obligations before you enter into an employment relationship with an employer. Or, as an employer, you understand your rights and obligations in respect of your employees. The best way to avoid a hassle at the end of the employment relationship, is to know and understand the terms and conditions of employment before the employment starts.

Leslie’s experience in negotiating, mediating and advocating before Ontario courts and tribunals, places her in a position to provide the best Employment Law advice to employees and employers. Her strong interest and skills in negotiating respects the fact that most individuals would rather engage in a process of mutual accommodation. Where that is not possible however, her many years of litigation experience allows her to be a strong advocate before the courts and administrative tribunals, as the need arises.
